October 18, 2008 I have a new recording posted up called The Bitterness. This is a song that is about 10 years old that I wanted to bring back and re-record. I’ve been working on it over the last few months and finally have it completed. Check it out. May 16, 2008 After a long break, I finally have a new song finished. I’ve been working on this one on and off for the last several months and have really dedicated more time to it recently in an effort finish it off. It’s called The Terrible Beauty. More to come soon... November 7, 2007 I’ve posted a new recording called Resolve. This is an older song that I’d been working on updating for the last few months. It’s taken me a little longer than expected to finish this recording, mostly due to a lack of time to work on music lately. I hope to start working on some new material soon, but in the meantime enjoy Resolve. June 13, 2007 I have finally finished a brand new song, Conflicted. This song has some unique elements to it that I experimented with. Hope you enjoy it! Check it out! May 16, 2007 Just wanted to post a bit of an update. In April, my wife and I had a baby boy named Kyle Bruce French, which has been taking up a lot of my time lately, so I haven’t had as much time to work on music as I would like. I do, however, have a new song in the works that I just started putting together within the last week or so. The arrangement is coming along very well and I’m hoping to start working on the percussion section soon. I already have most of the lyrics finished as well. I opted to do this over recording any older material, as I am anxious to get something brand new recorded. Stay tuned for updates! March 6, 2007 Crash Control is now on Garageband.com! I just finished uploading all the songs and updating the profile. Stop by and check out the site! March 2, 2007 Just finished the new song, (Let Me Be) Incomplete. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Give it a listen and let me know what you think. February 13, 2007 Just thought I’d drop a quick note as to what I’ve been up to. I’ve been writing and recording a new song called (Let Me Be) Incomplete. I decided to put off recording an older song I was thinking of doing because I really got into this new song once it started taking shape. I’ve been experimenting with some things with this song as well while I’ve been recording it. I should have it done later in February or early March. January 3, 2007 Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. I took a bit of time off over the holidays and am just now starting to get back into things. I’m currently working on writing two new possible songs. They’re both in the early stages so it’s hard to tell when (or if) they’ll be in shape to be recorded. I’m also in the process of relearning an older acoustic song I wrote a few years back. If all goes well, I may decide to record it next. One more thing, I just added the Grumps Theme to the music section. This was the theme I did for my friend’s web comic in December. December 7, 2006 I recently recorded a short jingle for my friend Chris’ web comic called Grumps. The comic takes place in a retirement home and has a very colourful cast of characters. Do yourself a favor and check it out, it’s hilarious, and the art is outstanding. This Fridays episode will feature my recording. December 1, 2006 Crash Control is now on My Space. Drop by and check it out. myspace.com/crashcontrolmusic November 22, 2006 Here it is! Tragedy is completed and online. This was a very fast mix and turned out great. I tried out a new microphone during this recording and that really helped with the vocal quality, which in turn made the whole mix much easier. This version is pretty true to the original, so I didn’t spend much time on rewriting. Give it a listen! November 9, 2006 I currently have another song in the recording stages. After Critical took so long to finish, I really wanted to get another song recorded rather quickly. I chose a song that I had written around 1998 called Tragedy. I’ve already completed quite a bit of it, so it shouldn’t be long before I have it posted up. Stay tuned. October 11, 2006 Critical is finally finished! It took a long time to write and record but I think the finished product was well worth it. Some unforeseen setbacks prevented me from focusing on this song during most of September, but once I got back into it, it was a fairly quick mix. Check it out and let me know what you think. September 6, 2006 Just another quick update for everyone. Lately, I’ve been focusing a lot on the recording of Critical. I’m in the final stages of recording and I’ll then tackle the final mix. I’ll actually be recording the vocal tracks this coming weekend. Other than that, there are just some guitar leads and some over-dubs that need to be done. If all goes well, I should have it done by late September. August 11, 2006 Just added a new photo section to the website. Included are photos from a 2001 live Haven show and some brand new shots from a photo shoot just done in July. July 27, 2006 Check out the Crash Control band profiles on icompositions.com, macjams.com and isound.com. There is music online on all three sites and you can rate and comment on all the songs. Plus there’s tons of other great songs and artists on these sites. Stop by and check it out! July 13, 2006 I’ve got a couple of new things in the works right now. First off, I’m still working on the new song which will be called Critical. I’m currently in the final stages of the percussion and arrangement, so very soon I will start recording it. I’m very excited about this one, it’s got a lot of energy and some pretty cool rhythm parts. Can’t wait to start recording it! Secondly, I have started to go through the catalogue of older songs I have written. In particular, there are some songs that I wrote and recorded with an analogue Tascam multi-track recorder in the late 90’s, and I have been sifting through them and picking out some that I would like to re-record digitally and post on the site. So, in between writing new songs, I will be posting up some great tunes that have yet to see the light of day. So stay tuned, lots of great music on the way! June 21, 2006 I’ve updated and expanded the bio section of the website (previously called “about”). It’s much more detailed than it was before, so stop by and give it read! June 16, 2006 I now have Imitator done and posted up in the music section. There’s a new guitar sound on this one, so check it out! June 5, 2006 Been working on a couple of new things lately. First and foremost I have been chipping away at forming a new song. I’ve been working on it off and on for about a month and it’s been changed many times (and even scrapped a few times!) but I think I’m on track with it now. It’s proving to be a tricky one to assemble, but I think it’ll sound great when it’s done. I’ve also been working on the mix for Imitator. It’s starting to sound pretty cool and I’ll hopefully have it up in the next few weeks. May 13, 2006 Without Lines is now finished and up in music section. This is another full remix, similar to what I did with Guilt & Panic. The song details are all in the new comments section. Check it out! May 4, 2006 Just thought I’d give everyone a bit of an update as to what I’ve been working on. I’m in the very early stages of writing a new song that is currently untitled and very rough right now. The main thing that I’ve been devoting most of my time to though, is a final remix of Without Lines. Most of the mix is done and I am just doing some more vocal work on it. I’m hoping to have it completed and online in the next couple of weeks. April 5, 2006 I’ve recently added song comments to all the song pages in the music section. March 31, 2006 I’m finally finished the new song One Step Away. This one took about 2 to 3 months to fully write and record (although the lyrics were written a few months before the music and arrangement was started). This song has a bit of a different vibe than some of my other songs and that is mostly due to the main bass line and guitar breaks throughout the song. The singing style is a bit different as well, adding to the change in tone. It’s up in the music section now, so check it out and let me know what you think. March 21, 2006 I have another song remixed and online called Guilt & Panic. This song was one of the first songs recorded digitally and was originally recorded using the Audacity software. This new version is not only remixed, but also rerecorded. Most of the rhythm and lead guitars, as well as the vocals and percussion stay true to original version, but the bass has been rewritten and added in. March 2, 2006 Interrupt is now online! I just finished the final remix. This song was originally recorded about 2 years ago and I was never 100% happy with the first mix. This new mix adds some new fx on the vocals and bass, and a better overall tone. Check it out in the music section and let me know what you think. February 19, 2006 Just finished working on the bass and guitar parts for One Step Away. The vocals are next and then a final mix. Hope to have it up on the website soon. February 17, 2006 I have now put four songs under the music section. These are fully mixed. The songs are Apathy!, In Search Of..., This Promise and Ordinary.
